Summary/Checkpoint
Assisting a client with movement and transfers is essential to the client’s well-being and quality of life.
However, if transfers are done incorrectly, they can cause serious injury to both the client and caregiver. Using proper body mechanics and correctly using assistive devices can minimize the risks.
Transfers are very personal, and a Home Care Aide must be particularly sensitive to a client’s preferences and needs when performing these tasks.
